Report: Tottenham Hotspur after Everton's James McCarthy

A report claims that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Everton midfielder James McCarthy in January.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Everton midfielder James McCarthy in January.

The Republic of Ireland international is one of the most highly-rated central midfielders in the Premier League, with his form over the last couple of seasons attracting a host of interest.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs currently lead the race for the 24-year-old, who is said to have become frustrated with his contract talks at Goodison.

The former Hamilton Academical youngster, who has also previously been linked with both Manchester United and Arsenal, joined Everton from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2013.
