Real Madrid have reportedly asked Tottenham Hotspur for the first option on Welsh winger Gareth Bale.
The 23-year-old has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 13 goals in 23 Premier League appearances.
According to The Telegraph, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez will use him as a bargaining chip with the fans in order to secure another four-year term at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The two clubs entered into a 'strategic partnership' as part of the deal for Luka Modric in the summer and Los Blancos may seek to take advantage.
Bale is believed to be wanted by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, who have been linked with a £50m summer move.
