Florentino Perez: 'Gareth Bale did not cost Real Madrid £85m'

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez claims that they paid Tottenham Hotspur €91m (£76.9m) for Gareth Bale.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has insisted that Gareth Bale did not cost the club €100m (£85m).

It had been widely reported that the Wales international winger cost the Spanish giants a record £85m when he moved from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

"Bale is insured for €91m (£76.9m), which is the amount he cost," Perez told Intereconomia.

Bale has struggled with injuries since his move to Madrid and has featured just three times for Carlo Ancelotti's side so far this season.
