Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano says that Gareth Bale would be a success in La Liga.

Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano believes that Gareth Bale moving to La Liga would be good for Spanish football, despite the fact that he could join arch rivals Real Madrid.

The Welshman has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu throughout the current transfer window, and Madrid are reported to have submitted a world record £85m bid for the winger.

"Always when players with quality come it is very good for the league," Mascherano told Fox Sports Asia.

"Bale is a player that has shown in the last three years that he is one of the best in his position."

Mascherano left Liverpool and the Premier League for Barcelona in 2010.
