Atletico Madrid have reportedly stepped up their approach to sign Kieran Trippier from Tottenham Hotspur as the La Liga side seek a long-term replacement for veteran full-back Juanfran.
The England international looks set to leave Spurs this summer following a frustrating 2018-19 campaign during which he was criticised for some performances.
Trippier reportedly received approaches from Juventus and Napoli earlier this summer, although it is claimed that a deal to join either side has now fallen through.
According to The Sun, this has paved the way for Atletico to step up their pursuit of Trippier, who they see as an ideal candidate to replace Juanfran on a long-term basis.
The La Liga side have placed Tripper on a shortlist for the right-back position which also includes Paris Saint-Germain's Thomas Meunier.
Any deal to sign the 28-year-old would cost Diego Simeone's side a fee of around £25m.
