Everton are reportedly in advanced talks with Rennes to sign striker Serhou Guirassy on loan.
Frank Lampard is on the lookout for a new centre-forward following the departure of Richarlison and the long-term injury sustained to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
According to Le Parisien journalist Benjamin Quarez, via Sport Witness, the Toffees are closing in on a deal to recruit Guirassy on a temporary deal for the 2022-23 campaign.
The 26-year-old scored 12 goals across all competitions for the Ligue 1 side last season but started only 13 of his 48 appearances.
Guirassy, a Guinea international, is believed to be attracted by the prospect of gaining regular first-team football in the Premier League with Everton.
Everton are also understood to have identified Southampton's Che Adams and Coventry City's Viktor Gyokeres as potential attacking targets.

Staying in the Premier League, Leicester City are reportedly open to selling centre-back Jannik Vestergaard for £12m this summer.
The 30-year-old only joined the Foxes 12 months ago from Southampton for around £15m, but he has been unable to nail down a regular place in Brendan Rodgers's starting lineup.
Vestergaard made only 20 appearances in all tournaments last season, 12 of which were starts, and the Dane is believed to be keen to play regularly to boost his chances of representing his country at the World Cup later this year.
The Daily Mail claims that Vestergaard would prefer a loan move this summer having only recently joined Leicester, but the Foxes are prepared to cash in on the centre-back to balance their books.
Vestergaard has previously been linked with a move to newly-promoted Fulham, but it remains to be seen whether the Cottagers still hold an interest in the 6ft 6in defender after completing the signing of Issa Diop from West Ham United for around £15m on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have reportedly made an enquiry over the availability of Villarreal left-back Pervis Estupinan.
Steve Cooper has enjoyed a hectic summer transfer window of incomings, with 12 players arriving at the City Ground so far for a combined fee in excess of £80m.
However, the Reds remain active in the market and the Daily Mail claims that they are one of a number of European clubs to have expressed their interest in 24-year-old Estupinan.
The Ecuador international has spent the last two years with Villarreal, making 73 appearances in all competitions, and was part of Unai Emery's side that won the 2020-21 Europa League as well as reach the Champions League semi-finals last season.
Tottenham Hotspur, Lyon and Nice are also believed to be interested in the left-back, who still has five years remaining on his contract with the Yellow Submarine.

Elsewhere, Championship outfit Middlesbrough have completed the signing of striker Matthew Hoppe from Mallorca for a fee believed to be worth around £2.5m.
The 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at the Riverside Stadium and is the second striker to join the club this summer, following the arrival of Marcus Forss from Brentford at the end of last month.
Hoppe is also the second USA international to arrive at Boro this summer after goalkeeper Zack Steffen moved to the Riverside on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.
After starting out with MLS giants LA Galaxy, Hoppe moved to Europe in 2020 to join German outfit Schalke 04, where he scored a total of six goals including a memorable Bundesliga hat-trick in a 4-0 win over Hoffenheim.
Hoppe then moved to Mallorca last summer on a permanent deal, but was reduced to just seven appearances in all competitions due to a number of injuries and contracting coronavirus.
The youngster is now hoping to get his career back on track with Middlesbrough, and the six-cap USA international could make his debut for Chris Wilder's side on Sunday in their Championship clash at home to Sheffield United.
