Tottenham Hotspur's Jan Vertonghen: 'We have a strong team without Gareth Bale'

Jan Vertonghen believes that Tottenham Hotspur's new signings keep the team strong following the departure of Gareth Bale.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen believes that the North London outfit still pose a threat, despite losing Gareth Bale.

Spurs finally allowed the Welshman to leave White Hart Lane for Real Madrid in a reported £85m deal on Sunday, but the club have strengthened by signing seven new players costing just over £100m.

"I don't think we had a negative window, I think even more positive," Vertonghen told Sky Sports News.

"We lost a great player, but [we've got] seven players of that quality for one player. We have brought great players in."

The Premier League outfit have acquired the signings of Vlad Chiriches, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Roberto Soldado, Etienne Capoue, Paulinho and Nacer Chadli.
