Andros Townsend not getting carried away

Tottenham winger Andros Townsend vows not to get carried away after scoring his first Premier League goal for the club during Sunday's 2-0 win at Aston Villa.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend has claimed that he must not get carried away after scoring his first Premier League goal for the club during Sunday's victory at Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old, who recently found the net on his England debut against Montenegro, opened the scoring for Spurs at Villa Park as they ran out 2-0 winners.

The result has seen Tottenham move up to fifth place in the table after eight matches.

"Obviously, scoring for my country on my debut was one of the highlights of my career, but getting my first goal for my hometown club in the Premier League is up there," Townsend told Sky Sports News.

"The main thing for me now is to not get carried away, to keep my feet on the ground and keep putting in the performances when I get the chance for Spurs."

Tottenham continue their Europa League campaign on Thursday with a trip to Moldova to face Sheriff Tiraspol.
