Harry Redknapp confirms that Tom Huddlestone will be sidelined for Tottenham "for a while" after he undergoes ankle surgery.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tom Huddlestone will undergo ankle surgery, manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed.

The 24-year-old, who last played for Spurs in August, is expected to have his operation on Monday but the former Portsmouth boss is unaware of how long the player will be sidelined for.

"He needs another operation,” said Redknapp. “He's already had one but there is still a problem with him. It's a blow. He will be out for a while."

Huddlestone has clocked up 122 appearances for the London club since he joined White Hart Lane from Derby County in 2005.
