Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp dismisses claims that Gareth Bale is a diver.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has dismissed claims that Gareth Bale is a diver.

The winger was criticised last weekend for the way in which he earned his side a penalty in their 5-2 defeat at local rivals Arsenal.

However, Redknapp believes that the Welshman is unfairly targeted by opponents.

"I don't think he dives," he said. "I haven't spoken to him about it and there is no need to. He gets kicked from pillar to post most Saturdays.

"I think you will find there is an awful lot of players who have been booked for chopping him down with cynical challenges this year, rather than him going down under no challenge."

Spurs will be looking to claim their first Premier League win over Manchester United since 2001 when they host the Red Devils at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
