Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino accuses Manchester City's Pep Guardiola of making "disrespectful" comments about his side.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has accused his Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola of making "disrespectful" comments about his side.

Guardiola provoked the ire of Spurs fans earlier this month when he referred to the club as "the Harry Kane team" when discussing their title chances.

Speaking to reporters today, Pochettino admitted that he personally took no offence to the remarks but described them as "unnecessary" and "disrespectful" to his players and fans.

"That comment does not affect me but in reality, it was very disrespectful for many people," he said.

"I think that many people took those words as very disrespectful for the club and many players that are here at the club.

"In my case, personally, I did not take it in a bad way. Wasn't disrespectful for myself but for a lot of people it was unnecessary to say that."

Earlier today Guardiola was named the Premier League Manager of the Month for September, while Kane collected the Player of the Month award.
