Tottenham Hotspur have moved to make Luka Modric their highest-paid player, reports suggest.
The North London club have offered the Croatian striker a deal worth £100,000 per week, according to the Daily Mail.
The deal would more than double the player’s current £46,000-a-week pay structure, and would make the 26-year-old the first player to break the £100,000-a-week barrier at White Hart Lane.
Modric was linked with a move to Chelsea in one of the summer’s highest-profile transfer sagas, but it is understood that he stayed at Spurs on the promise of improved terms from chairman Daniel Levy.
Modric signed a six-year contract with Tottenham in 2008 after a £16.5m move from Dinamo Zagreb.
