David Ginola defends Tottenham Hotspur's Gareth Bale over dive jibes

Ginola blasts Bale critics

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder David Ginola says that people are wrong to accuse Gareth Bale of being a diver and is worried that the Wales international will get a reputation.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder David Ginola believes that it is "unfair" for Gareth Bale to be labelled as a diver.

The Wales international has come under fire following an incident during Spurs' 3-0 win over Fulham at the weekend, when the 23-year-old was booked for diving.

"This debate really annoys me," Ginola told BBC Radio Wales. "The kid is doing so well. He shouldn't carry this on his shoulder. I don't understand why we put pressure on him with such false ideas.

"It's unfair. When you get a reputation it's really [hard] to get rid [of]. It's really easy when you run that fast with that pace on the pitch at players, you don't need a big tackle to go down. A little push would be enough to lose the balance."

Meanwhile, Tottenham currently sit fourth in the Premier League table.
