Former Tottenham Hotspur chief Damien Comolli believes that Mourinho must adapt to Tottenham Hotspur's culture if he is to achieve success in North London.

Former Tottenham Hotspur director of football Damien Comolli has claimed that manager Jose Mourinho does not fit the club's culture.

Mourinho took over at Spurs following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino but has struggled to make a lasting impact on the North London outfit despite promising early performances.

An FA Cup fifth-round defeat to Norwich City was followed up by a 4-0 aggregate defeat to RB Leipzig in the last 16 of the Champions League, and Comolli believes that Mourinho needs to adapt in order to achieve success at the club.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5Live, Comolli said: "I think, if you look at the bigger picture, it is interesting to think or to take an approach, as they have appointed a manager who doesn't seem to be a culture-fit to what the football club is about.

"So, for me, it is going to be a very interesting process to see what is going to happen. I think this season is probably not the season to say Mourinho will succeed us, or he will adapt to Spurs, or Spurs will adapt to him.

"But I think he should adapt to Spurs and their values."

Tottenham currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, although all top-flight matches have been suspended until April 4 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
