Gareth Bale thinks that it will be "difficult" to win the Premier League but insists that Tottenham will try to reach the best possible position in the table.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale is confident that the North London side can push for the Premier League title this season.

Harry Redknapp's men are in fine form, sitting third in the league table four points adrift of title holders Manchester United.

While Manchester City lead the way with a five-point advantage, the Wales international thinks that Spurs are ambitious enough to stay in the top four.

"If you look at the Manchester clubs, Man City especially have spent a lot of money again this summer," the Daily Mail quotes Bale as saying. "I think it's going to be very hard to knock them off the top.

"City have the resources to go kind of crazy, but the more they buy, the harder it will be for their team to gel. You just never know. We know Man United, how good they are - nobody really beats Man Utd at home but City showed their class beating them there.

"So it's going to be very difficult to win the League, but we want to finish as high as we can. We have a good enough squad. We've probably got the best squad we've ever had and we know if we put our minds to it, we can achieve something - if we believe in ourselves."

Tottenham continue their league campaign with an away trip to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion tomorrow.
