Hello, and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the match in the Premier League between Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Premier League has been pushed to the side over the past two weeks with players focusing their attentions on the international fixtures, but we are back with a bang this afternoon. We will bring you an update on the Merseyside derby very shortly, but this match at Turf Moor will also have ramifications for the top four in the table. Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino is aware that every point takes them closer to achieving Champions League football for another season, but he will be under no illusions that they will have it their own way in the North-West. Burnley may only be in mid-table but they have been excellent at home this season and we should see a highly-competitive encounter.

Anyway, without further ado, let's crack on with the team news. Pochettino, inparticular, had some big decisions to make.

First of all, let's take a look at the Burnley team as Sean Dyche avoids the temptation of using both Andre Gray and Sam Vokes in attack. Vokes has been effective at Turf Moor this season, but he must make do with a place on the bench. Steven Defour and Robbie Brady are also kept in reserve, but Matthew Lowton makes his 100th appearance in a Clarets shirt.

The big news coming out of the Spurs changing room is the use of Vincent Janssen. It had been reported that he faced a struggled to be fit because of a chest infection, but he is given the chance to impress after he was declared available for selection. There's also a rare league start for Kieran Trippier on his return to his former club, while Harry Winks is preferred to Mousa Dembele.

RESULT! Liverpool have successfully held on to their advantage over Everton to record a 3-1 victory over their Merseyside rivals. It's a result which takes Jurgen Klopp's side level on points with Spurs, but the North Londoners remain in second due to their superior goal difference. HEAD TO HEAD! This afternoon's fixture represents the 110th time in which these two teams have faced each other in a competitive contest, with Burnley claiming 40 victories in comparison to the 43 wins for Spurs. However, while things are close from an historical perspective, Burnley are without a win in five against today's visitors. That said, the last two fixtures to be played at Turf Moor have ended in a draw.

The most recent match between the two sides took place in December and while Burnley have been poor in away fixtures this season, they troubled a side who have been largely dominant in front of their own fans. The Clarets took an early lead but they were unable to hold on to what would have been an impressive result at White Hart Lane. Catch the full match report here.

Can you recall the last time Burnley played a Premier League game at Turf Moor? It's ok - we will forgive you if you can't. That's because Turf Moor has not hosted a top-flight fixture since February 12! Burnley have only played four league matches during that period and because they were agreed to switch a game with Liverpool earlier in the season, they ended up with consecutive trips to Hull City, Swansea City, Liverpool and Sunderland, where they picked up just the two points.

While we are talking about Burnley and Turf Moor, we should also point out that Dyche's side have not lost in the league at their ground since November 26, a period of seven games. Apart from a defeat to Swansea City on the opening day of the season, they have only lost out to City and Arsenal at home, which is some achievement given their contrasting fortunes on the road.

Let's get onto Spurs, with Janssen making just his sixth start in the Premier League. Pochettino's hands have been tied to an certain extent due to the form of Harry Kane, but Janssen must be chomping at the bit to try to impress his boss. The Dutchman also netted his first goal for the club from open play in March so who knows, maybe that will give him the belief to kick on and contribute during the closing weeks of the campaign.

Also a word on Tripper who, remarkably, is making just his 11th appearance for Spurs in the Premier League since moving to White Hart Lane in June 2015. He's a player who probably deserves more game time after how well he did for Burnley during his time at Turf Moor. I'm sure that he will get a warm welcome from the Burnley supporters this afternoon given that he played 185 times for their club.

PREDICTION! This is a tough one to call, isn't it? Burnley have been superb at home this season but we cannot back against Spurs. They are going to have to show a side to their game which hasn't always been required since August, but we think Janssen will help Spurs to a 2-1 win.

It has been a relatively quiet start on the pitch but the Burnley fans are well up for this. The last time their team played at Turf Moor, they got beat by Lincoln City in the FA Cup! Fair to say they are hoping for much better this afternoon.

There's already been a goal at Stamford Bridge with Cesc Fabregas giving Chelsea the lead over Crystal Palace. It is very early days but Spurs are going to be 11 points behind the league leaders, as it stands. Early days though, like I say.

There has still been nothing in the way of changes at Turf Moor but Janssen has been involved in one meaty challenge with Barton. An effective way to show that he is up for this game! There's been another goal at Stamford Bridge too - Crystal Palace have equalised!

We promise to bring you more updates on this game very soon but back to Stamford Bridge - Palace now lead Chelsea 2-1! It's been an unbelievable start in West London. Time for Spurs to show a bit more ambition than they currently are...

It doesn't come as too much of a surprise that Burnley are comfortably dealing with what Spurs have to offer at this stage. They have been doing that all season. They have defeated Liverpool and drew with Chelsea at Turf Moor. From Spurs' perspective, we are yet to see anything of Dele Alli.

CHANCE! It's only half a chance but a chance nevertheless. Ward produces a fine cross from the left for Burnley teammate Boyd, but his header is straight into the hands of Lloris.

Burnley have had the best opening but it is Spurs who are controlling the pace of the game and having the most possession. few corners have also come to nothing. Solid and very unspectacular so far.

It is difficult to single out anyone during the opening quarter of this game but Wanyama is probably proving to be the most important player. Burnley are more inclined to take the direct approach when they come forward and the Kenyan enforcer is being required to snuff out a few potential openings.

Burnley may be interested to know that both West Ham United and Leicester City have taken the lead in their respective fixtures with Hull City and Stoke City. Both teams are looking to finish above the Clarets in the league standings.

Burnley have had a corner in the last few minutes after a decent block from Trippier, but it came to nothing.

CHANCE! Finally, we see something positive from Spurs. Eriksen and Alli have remained on the periphery of this game but they both come close to scoring, with Eriksen seeing a shot saved by Heaton and Alli failing to hit the target with the rebound.

Spurs haven't really done much since that double opening. They are still having the bulk of possession and it's Burnley who are having to do more of the defending now, but no more opportunities to speak of. Janssen needs to get into the game, rather than just offering a physical presence.

I wonder if either Dyche or Pochettino will consider changes at the break? I suppose Burnley will be content with this, but with Chelsea losing, will Pochettino introduce Son Heung-Min?

SUBSTITUTION! This is a blow for Spurs. Wanyama has picked up a knock and is being replaced by Mousa Dembele. That said, the Belgian may offer a bigger attacking threat, although the chance may see Spurs change formation with Dier moving into midfield.

SUBSTITUTION! Another enforced change for Spurs! Winks is now hobbling off to be replaced by Moussa Sissoko. Just the one alteration left for Pochettino.

It's not an exaggeration to say that was one of the worst 45 minutes of the season. There has been one real chance for each side and very little inbetween. However, Spurs need to have a rethink with both Wanyama and Winks being forced off through injury.

Burnley get us back underway at Turf Moor. There doesn't appear to be any changes for either side, which is no surprise in Spurs' case!

BOOKING! It's not a chance but it's an incident - we are getting better! Keane goes into the book for a late challenge on Janssen.

CHANCE! There's certainly more intent about Spurs at the start of this second half. Janssen is getting himself involved with his shot being well saved by Heaton. Sissoko had a sniff of a rebound but he was unable to convert.

I was feeling optimistic that initial Spurs burst would leave to more chance, but it has not turned out that way. Burnley are holding firm relatively comfortably. Keane is once again impressing against high-calibre opposition.

SUBSTITUTION! First change for Burnley and it's an interesting one. Top goalscorer Andre Gray is being replaced by Sam Vokes.

The majority of Vokes's goals this season have come at Turf Moor. Don't be surprised if he ruffles some feathers in the Spurs defence. He hasn't done much since being introduced but both Alderweireld and Vertonghen have a different proposition to deal with now.

It's still 2-1 to Crystal Palace against Chelsea, meaning that Spurs stand to close the gap on the leaders. I doubt Pochettino would take the positives though. The door is ajar right now but they can still knock it down with a winner in the final 27 minutes.

CHANCE! Sissoko has failed to impress since joining Spurs from Newcastle United and he has just squandered a chance to get into the good books of the supporters. After being teed up by Janssen inside the penalty area, he could not hit the target. A £30m signing should be scoring those kind of opportunities.

This could be a massive, massive goal and from who else - Eric Dier! After a corner from Eriksen wasn't cleared, Dier pounced to fire into the net from close range for his first goal of the season!

Dyche is probably starting to regret taking Gray off in the 56th minute. The home side have offered very little in this second half. There are still 20 minutes to go but they need another creative spark.

CHANCE! The combination of Heaton and Keane almost works inside the Spurs penalty area. A long free kick from the goalkeeper eventually falls invitingly to the defender but despite a sharp turn and shot, he just misses the target.

SUBSTITUTION! A second change for Burnley as Dyche replaces Boyd with Robbie Brady.

Game over. Five minutes after replacing Janssen, Son gets on the scoresheet after being in the right place and the right time to tap home after a swift counter-attack through Alli.

SHOT! Spurs are playing with a swagger now and they come close to a third as Alli curls just off target. Given the form he has been in, he will be disappointed with that.

CHANCE! This game is over as a contest but Spurs still want more goals. Alli has just fired wide from close range when again, he really should have scored. Chelsea are still losing at Stamford Bridge.

There will be four minutes of added-on time.

The full-time whistle goes at Turf Moor and Spurs have little trouble in closing out a 2-0 win over Burnley, who were distinctly average this afternoon. Spurs won't care, however. Goals from Dier and Son has taken them to within seven points of Chelsea!
