Mauricio Pochettino plays down Eric Dier, Lucas Moura injury concerns

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino plays down concerns over the fitness of midfielders Eric Dier and Lucas Moura following his side's 2-1 win over Newcastle.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has played down concerns over the fitness of midfielders Eric Dier and Lucas Moura.

Both players came off during the second half of Tottenham's 2-1 win over Newcastle United yesterday, with Dier limping from the field and Lucas being spotted with a bag of ice on his leg following his withdrawal.

However, Pochettino has revealed that both injuries are minor and expects to have the duo back in training on Monday.

"No, no they are okay. I hope that Monday they will start to train with the team. Eric Dier was so tired. He felt in the end cramp, but Lucas nothing," he told reporters.

"I think it was very good competition today with a big squad. Massive competition between them and I'm going to rotate in the next few weeks, trying to give the possibility to all the players to play and be important."

Tottenham's second match of the campaign comes against Fulham at Wembley next weekend.
