A report claims that Luka Modric will be replaced by Tottenham Hotspur ace Christian Eriksen at Real Madrid if the Croatian midfielder departs for Inter Milan.

Real Madrid will move for Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen if Luka Modric is snapped up by Inter Milan, according to a report.

Los Blancos fear losing the Croatia international to the Italian club as he has allegedly expressed an interest in making a switch this summer.

The Sun suggests that Madrid already know who they want to fill the void left by Modric if he brings his six-year stay at the Bernabeu to an end, with Eriksen seen as the ideal replacement.

Tottenham have been desperately trying to tie the 26-year-old down to a new contract, having been allowed to enter the final two years of his existing deal.

Modric described Eriksen as "a world-class player" ahead of Croatia's meeting with Denmark in the World Cup last 16.
