Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Brentford

Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham Hotspur's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League Boxing Day clash with Brentford.

A London derby awaits Tottenham Hotspur in their first Premier League game since the World Cup as they travel to face Brentford on Boxing Day.

Antonio Conte's men entered the World Cup break clinging onto fourth spot in the table, although Manchester United are only three points behind with a game in hand.

The Lilywhites took part in two winter friendlies earlier this month, thumping Motherwell 4-0 before being held to a 1-1 draw by Ligue 1 outfit Nice on Wednesday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with the Bees, who lie smack-bang in the middle of the table in 10th place.

Richarlison

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: January 23 (vs. Fulham)

Richarlison's World Cup campaign ended in dismal fashion as he sustained a thigh injury in Brazil's quarter-final defeat to Croatia, and he will spend up to a month on the sidelines.

Rodrigo Bentancur

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: January 1 (vs. Aston Villa)

Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur returned from Qatar with a groin injury but has since been put through his paces in training. The 25-year-old will miss this game through suspension anyway, but his issue is expected to clear up in time for Spurs' New Year's Day clash with Aston Villa.

Oliver Skipp

Oliver Skipp was one of two Tottenham players to miss the friendly draw with Nice due to illness, but the midfielder should battle back from the virus in time to make himself available on Monday.

Djed Spence

As was the case with Skipp, right-back Djed Spence was not available on Wednesday having also come down with a bug, but the 22-year-old will be expected to return to the matchday squad on Boxing Day.

Cristian Romero
