Preview: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Inter Milan

Sports Mole previews the first leg of the Europa League last-16 clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan at White Hart Lane.

Arguably the tie of the round will take place at White Hart Lane on Thursday when Tottenham Hotspur welcome Inter Milan in the first leg of their last-16 clash in the Europa League.

Spurs were winners over French outfit Lyon in the previous round to advance to this stage of the competition, while Inter overcame Cluj 5-0 on aggregate.

The home side will enter the match full of confidence, having won four of their last five games in all competitions with the 2-1 win over Arsenal last weekend moving them into third position in the Premier League table.

Inter, meanwhile, have won three of their last five matches in all competitions. They have recovered from a poor start to their domestic season to move into fourth position, but they sit some 12 points behind Serie A leaders Juventus.

The last time the two sides met in London was in November 2010, when Spurs were 3-1 winners in the group stages of the Champions League. However, the Italian side won the reverse fixture at the San Siro despite a hat-trick from Gareth Bale.

Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is expected to recall Brad Friedel between the sticks, while William Gallas and Jake Livermore could also come in for rare starts. Jermain Defoe, who returned from injury against Arsenal, could also play.

Inter, meanwhile, have no fresh injury concerns ahead of the match. Dejan Sankovic is expected to battle for a place in midfield alongside Esteban Cambiasso, but one-time Arsenal target Ricardo Alvarez is certain to start.

Recent form:

Tottenham: WWDWW

Inter: WLWDW

Possible lineups:

Tottenham: Friedel; Walker, Gallas, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto; Livermore, Parker, Dembele; Bale, Defoe, Lennon

Inter: Handanovic; Zanetti, Chivu, Juan, Pereira; Schelotto, Alvarez, Cambiasso, Kuzmanovic; Gargano; Rocchi

Sports Mole says: 2-2
