Mauricio Pochettino: 'Tottenham Hotspur taking Champions League step by step'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino suggests that he and his players are not thinking beyond the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Juventus.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has acknowledged that his side must overcome "many challenges" to beat Juventus in the Champions League.

Juventus endured a slow start to the campaign but the Italian giants have won 14 of their last 15 games in all competitions, conceding just the one goal.

Spurs have already defeated Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund in this year's competition, but Pochettino has suggested that it will count for little when they face Juve in the first leg of their last-16 tie in Turin.

At a press conference, the 45-year-old told reporters: "We take it step by step. When the draw happened at the start of the season, first it was Real Madrid and Dortmund. Not many people believed in us but now we are here, enjoying today, the training session and tomorrow the game.

"We need to show we deserve to go to the next stage. Scoring goals will be difficult against a team so tough to score against. We have many challenges ahead tomorrow but it's important to continue as we have. Why not do it again?"

Spurs head into the game having put together a 12-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.
