Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin keen to play for a "big club"

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin hints that he may leave the Saints during the summer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Morgan Schneiderlin has revealed that he will consider leaving Southampton for a "big club" if they fail to secure Champions League qualification this season.

Schneiderlin, 25, was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during the summer, but the Saints' hierarchy were reportedly reluctant to sanction the sale, having already lost a host of key players.

Nevertheless, Ronald Koeman's side sit second in the Premier League table after a barnstorming start to the season, but the Frenchman warns that his teammates must sustain that form if he is to stay at St Mary's.

"A career passes quickly and I want to play for a big club," Schneiderlin told France Football Federation's official website.

"Today I am at Southampton. We are second in the Premier League, it is going well.

"We'll see at the end of the season what will happen if we are still in the Champions League places and I will make the choice. I will see with my club."

Schneiderlin is contracted to the South Coast club until 2017.
