Report: Arsenal to monitor Jay Rodriguez comeback

Arsenal are interested in Southampton's injured striker Jay Rodriguez, according to reports.

Arsenal have reportedly registered an interest in Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez.

The Gunners made their interest known to the Saints by making an enquiry shortly before a season-ending knee injury put the 24-year-old out of action, according to the Daily Star

However, Arsenal are believed to still be eager to bring the England international to the Emirates Stadium, and will keep a close eye on his progress as he looks to make a recovery from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Rodriguez, who has scored 17 goals in all competitions for Southampton this season, is expected to be out for up to six months with the injury.

Southampton signed Rodriguez from Burnley in June 2012.
