Ronald Koeman: 'Southampton will move for Jordy Clasie if Morgan Schneiderlin leaves'

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman discloses that Feyenoord's Jordy Clasie is at the top of their list to replace Morgan Schneiderlin if he joins Manchester United.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has confirmed that Jordy Clasie is at the top of their list to replace Morgan Schneiderlin.

Schneiderlin is closing in on a £24m move to Manchester United after reportedly undergoing a medical with the Red Devils.

The Saints have identified Clasie as their top replacement for the 25-year-old, and Koeman has revealed that he is ready to move for the Feyenoord man when the Frenchman leaves the club.

He told reporters: "Clasie is one of the players on our list to replace Morgan Schneiderlin. He's a good player.

"He's a young player, a Dutch international who is ready to make a step up and show his qualities at a higher level than we have in the Dutch league.

"He's growing in his leadership qualities, but if Morgan goes, we need a player in that position. He is one of them."

Clasie has made 11 appearances for the Netherlands.
