Jose Fonte has revealed that Southampton have no plans to offer him a new contract.
The Portuguese defender has been linked with a January exit following reports that the club will accept bids exceeding £5m when the transfer window reopens.
There were rumours that Fonte, who was touted as a target for Manchester United in the summer, has opted not to sign fresh terms at St Mary's, but now the European Championship winner has clarified the situation.
On Instagram, he wrote: "Just to set the record straight I did NOT reject a new contract, in fact I have been informed by Southampton that they are NOT offering me a new contract. My focus is on Thursday helping us win the [Europa League] game! #wemarchon."
The 32-year-old, who was also reportedly wanted by Everton before the start of the season, has 18 months left on his contract.
Fonte joined the Saints from Crystal Palace in 2010.
