Virgil van Dijk: 'I've learned more at Southampton than I did at Celtic'

Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk says that he has learned more at the Premier League club than he did in two years at Celtic.

Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has claimed that he has learned more at St Mary's than he did during his two-year spell at Celtic.

The Dutchman has played five matches for the Saints so far following his deadline-day transfer from the Scottish champions in the summer.

"At Southampton I am learning so much in every game I play, much more than I did in two years at Celtic," Van Dijk told reporters.

"I feel I have started quite well. I've played five games and it has been tough. The standard is much quicker than in Scotland. The ball is like a pinball machine. You have to concentrate. It took me some time to get used to it but I'm doing all right now."

Van Dijk has kept two clean sheets and scored one goal.
