The majority of Southampton supporters believe that under-pressure manager Nigel Adkins should remain at St Mary's, according to a vote made by the Daily Echo.

Southampton supporters have given manager Nigel Adkins their backing, despite increasing pressure on the coach's position at St Mary's.

The 47-year-old has led his side to just one victory in the Premier League since reaching promotion from the Championship last season.

In a vote conducted on the website of the Daily Echo, 78% of the 5,000 participants declared that they wanted Adkins to remain as manager, while 22% thought that his time should be up.

The Saints currently reside in the bottom three of the league table after eight games.
