Southampton defender Jose Fonte praises the "fantastic" spirit at the club ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Southampton defender Jose Fonte has hailed the "fantastic" spirit at the club ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Saints are currently preparing for a second campaign in the top flight after securing a 14th-placed finish last term.

"The spirit in this team is fantastic," Fonte told the club's official website. "I've never been in a group as good as this one, and it's wonderful to be a part of this team."

Southampton have signed two new players this summer in the form of Lyon defender Dejan Lovren and Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama.
