Former Southampton midfielder Jimmy Case has claimed that Ronald Koeman's experience should serve the club well in Europe next season.
The Saints qualified for the Europa League on Saturday thanks to Aston Villa's defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
Having played for and managed clubs such as Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven, Ajax and Benfica during his career, Case is confident that Koeman will provide Southampton with some much-needed nous when they face foreign teams.
"With European competition Koeman's been there, he knows all the tricks and he's managed abroad," he told BBC Sport. "I'm sure that tactically he's more than capable of getting a team to perform in Europe, but it's all about the squad. If you've not generally played in Europe consistently it's a new venture. I think for Southampton it could be healthy."
Southampton finished the Premier League season in seventh place in the table.
