Miguel Layun: 'I have not heard from Sevilla'

Porto defender Miguel Layun admits that he is 'unsure' whether he will return to Sevilla next season, having enjoyed a successful loan spell with the La Liga outfit.

Porto defender Miguel Layun has admitted that he is 'unsure' whether he will return to Sevilla next season, having enjoyed a successful loan spell with the La Liga outfit in the second half of the 2017-18 campaign.

Layun made the switch to Sevilla during the January transfer window, and the 30-year-old appeared in 16 La Liga matches for the Spanish outfit - scoring two goals in the process.

Layun has claimed that Sevilla have not yet signalled whether they want to sign him on a permanent deal this summer, with the Mexican currently in the dark when it comes to his future at club level.

"I believe it will be difficult for me to continue at Sevilla," Layun told El Larguero. "I think if they had that intention themselves they would have already contacted me or my agent, but there have been no words exchanged.

"I do not rule out returning to the club and I believe it would be a good move for me but it is not my decision. It was a dream to play for that team but I understand that their needs may be different."

Layun, who represented Watford between 2015 and 2016, has impressed for Mexico at the 2018 World Cup in a wide attacking position.
