Luke Daniels aiming for "stability" at Scunthorpe after completing Baggies move

Luke Daniels completes his permanent switch from West Bromwich Albion to Scunthorpe United.

Luke Daniels has claimed that he wants to "settle down" and play football on a consistent basis having joined Scunthorpe United on a permanent deal.

The 27-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Glanford Park to bring to an end his 11-year association with former side West Bromwich Albion.

Daniels struggled to make an impact during his time with the Baggies, spending six different spells on loan in the Football League, although he hopes to now push on in his new surroundings.

"I want a bit of stability where I'm not trying to get out on loan and I can settle down and play my football so I'm looking forward to it," he told the club's official website.

"I've had lots of loan spells, I've played in playoff finals and I've played in the Premier League so I've been around. It's a common misconception that I've been sat around for 10 years, but that's not the case.

"I've been around and got my games, I just want settle down now and play my football. Of course it's unfortunate that both 'keepers have got injured, but it is what it is and it's given me an opportunity."

Scunthorpe were hit by a double injury blow last weekend when first-team keepers Sam Slocombe and James Severn both broke their arms in the 2-0 defeat against Bristol City.

Manager Mark Robins was delighted by the arrival of Daniels on an undisclosed fee, adding: "Luke is a player who has been on our radar for a while, and has certainly been on the top of our list.

"The injuries to Sam Slocombe and James Severn brought that forward and made it more important for us to do something quickly. I'm really pleased to get a goalkeeper of Luke's quality in the building and look forward to working with him over the next two-and-a-half years."

The Irons are currently 17th in the League One table.
