Former Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish says that he will not rule out a return to the Scotland national team but is more interested in club management.

Former Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has insisted that he is more interested in staying within club management than in taking over the Scottish national team.

Scotland are in the hunt for a new boss following the departure of Craig Levein yesterday, and McLeish has been touted as a possible contender for the role.

"I left the national team to take up club football," McLeish told talkSPORT. "I felt I was missing the day to day stuff. I wouldn't like to be unfair to Scotland fans in terms of coming back to the job and being a hypocrite.

"I don't want to come out and say I don't want the Scotland job, I'd never want to say that. But I do feel I've still got some time left in club football and that's what I want to focus on."

The 53-year-old spent nine months in charge of Scotland in 2007.
