Rotherham United: 'Steve Evans not joining Sheffield Wednesday'

Rotherham United chairman Tony Stewart insists that Steve Evans will not be leaving his post with the club to take over at Sheffield Wednesday.

Rotherham United chairman Tony Stewart has insisted that manager Steve Evans will not be moving to Sheffield Wednesday or any other club.

Evans, who was today revealed as a nominee for November's League One Manager of the Month, has been linked with the vacant Wednesday post following Dave Jones's sacking at the weekend.

"Despite the recent press speculation over the past 24 hours, I would like to fully clarify that Steve Evans will not be joining Sheffield Wednesday," Stewart told Rotherham's website.

"Steve is a key part of Rotherham United's efforts to progress to the Championship and both the board of directors and Steve are delighted with progress made so far.

"We will now draw a line under the speculation as we look to prepare for the FA Cup second round match with Rochdale this Saturday."

Evans led Rotherham to an unbeaten November that moved them into the League One playoff places.
