Giovanni Trapattoni believes that he still has total control over team affairs for Republic of Ireland.

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has maintained that he has complete authority over his side.

The 73-year-old's future has been subject to speculation after Ireland's 6-1 defeat to Germany on October 12 but the former AC Milan coach has said that he still has total control over his side.

"Someone making suggestions [in the Football Association of Ireland] doesn't take authority away from me," said Trapattoni.

"Some say my English is not very good. I ask the players and they all say they understand. There are only 100 or 200 words in football, 'win, deserve, lose', unfortunately."

It has also been suggested Trapattoni suffers due to preferring to watch games on a DVD rather than live at football stadiums, but it is a theory that the Italian has dismissed.

"I can fly every Saturday. Sometimes the players might not play. We ask them and they don't know. I see many games at home, I drive in England to the pitch, they don't play. Sometimes, the driver has to change [direction] after 100 kilometres."

Ireland play Greece in an international friendly on November 12.
