Red Bull Salzburg storm back against Lazio to reach Europa League semi-finals

Red Bull Salzburg reach the semi-finals of the Europa League thanks to an exhilarating 4-1 win over Lazio to progress 6-5 on aggregate.

Red Bull Salzburg have reached the semi-finals of the Europa League thanks to an exhilarating 4-1 win over Lazio in Thursday night's quarter-final second leg.

The Austrians had suffered a 4-2 loss in the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico but three goals in the space of four second-half minutes swept the Biancocelesti out of the competition 6-5 on aggregate.

Neither side were able to open the scoring come the break, but Ciro Immobile went on to strike on 55 minutes to seemingly deal a critical blow to Salzburg.

The Italian striker, who had spurned numerous opportunities earlier in the game, sprung the offside trap from a Luis Alberto through-ball and curled an effort into the far top corner from 15 yards.

Rather than let their heads drop, the hosts struck back immediately as Munas Dabbur scored via a deflection off Luiz Felipe and past the bamboozled Thomas Strakosha.

The visitors held firm until the 72nd minute, when Amadou Haidara found the far bottom corner of the net with a long range strike.

Two minutes later, Hwang Hee-chan squeezed home from a tight angle, and another two minutes elapsed before Stefan Lainer thumped a far-post header into the back of the net to complete the remarkable turnaround.

RB SALZBURG (4-3-1-2): Walke; Lainer, Ramalho, Caleta-Car, Ulmer; Haidara, Schlager, Berisha; Yabo; Hwang (Gulbrandsen 79'), Dabbur

LAZIO (3-5-1-1): Strakosha; Felipe, De Vrij, Radu; Basta (Lukaku 60'), Parolo, Leiva (Nani 78'), Milinkovic-Savic (Felipe Anderson 69'), Lulic; Alberto; Immobile
