Villarreal have reportedly emerged as the strong favourites to take Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard on loan this summer.
The 16-year-old completed a high-profile move to Real Madrid from Stromsgodset in January and made his La Liga debut for the club in their final game of the season.
In doing so, Odegaard became the youngest ever player to appear in Spain's top flight.
That said, it is understood that Real feel a loan move would be most beneficial next season, and a number of clubs have been credited with an interest.
According to the Daily Mail, Villarreal's expertise at dealing with young players has made them the favourites to take the Norway international on loan.
Odegaard trained with both the first team and Real Madrid Castilla last season.
