Out-of-favour striker Luka Jovic is reportedly keen to stay at Real Madrid beyond the summer, despite scoring just two goals in 32 games for Los Blancos so far.

Out-of-favour Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic is reportedly keen to stay and make a name for himself at the Bernabeu.

The Serbia international has spent the last two years in the Spanish capital after leaving Eintracht Frankfurt but has failed to fire, scoring just two goals in 32 appearances for Real Madrid.

Jovic - who has also been plagued by injuries and coronavirus - returned to Frankfurt on loan for the second half of the 2020-21 season, and Real Madrid have been expected to offload him permanently this summer.

However, Marca claims that Jovic is determined to remain on the books at Real Madrid as Karim Benzema reaches the twilight years of his career, but he recognises that he has not justified his £56.7m price tag.

The report adds that Jovic expects Carlo Ancelotti to hand him more opportunities in La Liga than Zinedine Zidane did, and Real Madrid are not actively looking to sell the 23-year-old unless an offer comes in which they cannot refuse.

Jovic scored four goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances for Frankfurt during his six-month loan spell last term, and his Real Madrid deal does not expire until 2025.
