Report: Mauro Icardi to undergo Real Madrid medical on December 26

Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has been pencilled in for a medical to secure a switch to Real Madrid later this month, a report has claimed.

The Spanish side have endured a disappointing start to the season, currently sitting fourth in the La Liga table, eight points behind leaders Barcelona.

Alvaro Morata's departure to Chelsea has been felt, and with Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo having contributed just two league goals apiece this season, manager Zinedine Zidane is looking for options to improve his squad.

According to Diario Gol, Icardi is Zidane's prime attacking target and will undergo a medical at the end of the month with a view to a January move.

All three of Madrid's attacking trident have been linked with potential moves away from the club.
