Xabi Alonso agent dismisses Napoli link

Xabi Alonso's agent rubbishes speculation that the Spaniard is poised to team up with former Liverpool coach Rafael Benitez at Napoli.

The agent of Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has quashed rumours that his client is poised to join Napoli this summer.

Toni Kroos's arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu today has prompted speculation that Alonso has grown to be surplus to requirements in the Spanish capital.

However, his representative, Inaki Ibanez, claims that the former Liverpool ace will not be teaming up with his ex-coach Rafael Benitez in Naples.

"I want to deny rumours that there has been any contact with Napoli," he told Europa Calcio. "They have never been in contact with us. I can assure you that Xabi will remain with Real Madrid."

Alonso, 32, is contracted to the Spanish giants until 2016.
