Real Madrid reportedly offer midfielder Xabi Alonso a one-year contract extension.

Real Madrid have reportedly offered midfielder Xabi Alonso a one-year contract extension amid speculation over his future at the Bernabeu.

The Spain international is believed to have been the subject of interest from former club Liverpool and Chelsea, who are being led by Alonso's ex-manager Jose Mourinho.

In a bid to warn off other clubs, Madrid have met with Alonso's agent Inaki Ibanez in May with regards to the midfielder extending his stay with the Spanish giants, according to AS.

Alonso, who is in the final year of his current contract, is currently recovering from a groin injury.
