Andre Villas-Boas backs Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo to make the difference in the second leg of his side's Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has backed Cristiano Ronaldo to make the difference in his side's Champions League last-16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

Ronaldo scored twice in the first leg to help Real Madrid come from a goal down and win 3-1 against the Ligue 1 leaders, becoming the first player to score 100 Champions League goals for a single club in the process.

The 33-year-old's league form has been questioned at times this season, but Villas-Boas rejected the suggestion that his compatriot's ability is on the wane.

"I think he is still going forward. He's continuing to bag the goals and he continues to break records," Villas-Boas told Sports Mole at the Laureus World Sports Awards.

"In the Champions League he delivered once again and I expect in this tie against PSG he will do again. So in the big moments he is there and for us he's a great inspiration."

Ronaldo has scored 28 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions this season, including 11 in just seven Champions League outings.
