Rayo Vallecano president Martin Presa says that "football terrorism" caused their match with Real Madrid to be postponed on Sunday.

Rayo Vallecano president Martin Presa has blamed "football terrorism" for the floodlight issues that caused their match with Real Madrid to be postponed on Sunday.

The clash was due to take place in the Spanish capital on Sunday evening, but it had to be put back until Monday following suggestions that cables had been cut inside the stadium.

Presa told the Spanish press that "vandals" had caused the damage, although it is not yet clear which sets of fans were responsible.

"This is a new kind of terrorism, a football terrorism where a few prevent the fans attending a show. About 19:00 yesterday, when we tested the lighting, technicians tested the lights and there was no lighting. Given this, the technicians went up to the stands to see what happened and realized that there are 57 cut wires. All of them were going to the mains," he told reporters.

"We have undertaken a special device to manage the crisis. At 09:00, the scientific police presented themselves at the club. Two and a half hours later they finished and gave way to a team of electricians who have worked to restore everything."

The match is due to start at 6.45pm on Monday.
