Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe will face off against Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric to be named Sportsman of the Year at next month's Laureus World Sports Awards.
Other contenders in the hotly-contested category include tennis world number one Novak Djokovic, Formula 1 champ Lewis Hamilton and basketball great LeBron James.
Tour de France and SPOTY winner Geraint Thomas is among the nominees for the Breakthrough of the Year gong, while tennis stars Simona Halep and Angelique Kerber are nominated for Sportswoman of the Year.
Fresh from their success at last year's World Cup in Russia, the France national football team lead the Team of the Year category, with other nominees including Real Madrid, Golden State Warriors and the European Ryder Cup team.
This year's Laureus World Sports Awards take place in Monaco on Monday, February 18.
