Sami Khedira laments "difficult" final season at Real Madrid

Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira has said that his final season at Real Madrid was the "most difficult moment" of his footballing career.

The 28-year-old endured a frustrating campaign and only made three La Liga starts under Carlo Ancelotti.

Khedira has since completed a free transfer to Juventus and he has said that he is delighted to have joined the Italian champions.

"It wasn't easy, but you can't always expect gratitude in this industry," he told reporters. "I don't want to complain, I hold no grudges [against Madrid], but [last season] was the most difficult moment of my career.

"I was in good shape and training well, but I didn't get a chance to play. I'm happy with the decision I made [to join Juve] and I appreciate Juve's faith in me. I'm happy, but [I'm also happy] about my five years at Real Madrid.

"These past few months haven't been easy for me because my future was uncertain."

Khedira spent five seasons at Real Madrid following his move from Stuttgart in July 2010.
