Aitor Karanka underlines Cristiano Ronaldo's quality as the Real Madrid forward scored twice against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

Real Madrid assistant coach Aitor Karanka has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo for his performance against Athletic Bilbao in La Liga on Sunday.

The Portugal international forward scored twice at San Mames to lead the Spanish champions to a 3-0 victory.

"He did what he had to do and scored two goals that won us the match," Karanka told reporters. "He has once again shown the type of player he is."

Ronaldo's brace saw him increase his tally to 50 goals in all competitions this season.
