Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas dropped by Jose Mourinho

Iker Casillas is dropped in a 'competitive' La Liga match for the first time in 10 years by Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho.

Real Madrid skipper Iker Casillas was dropped by Jose Mourinho for the La Liga trip to Malaga this evening.

Casillas's place was taken by 25-year-old Antonio Adan, with the Spanish number one dropping to the bench.

The last time Casillas missed a match for 'competitive' reasons was in 2002 when he was 21 years old.

Between 2002-03 and 2011-12, Casillas played in 371 out of a possible 380 La Liga games. Every match he did miss was when there was little to play for.
