Roberto Carlos praises Marcelo

Former Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos calls Marcelo "one of the best left-backs in the world".

Former Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos has branded Marcelo "one of the best left-backs in the world".

Carlos, who represented Los Blancos between 1996 and 2007, is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the history of the sport.

Marcelo has always been praised for his attacking qualities, but his defensive attributes have long been called into question.

Carlos, however, believes that his fellow Brazilian is "the perfect player for his position".

"He's playing well. He's the perfect player for his position. I think he's one of the best left-backs in the world right now," Carlos told AS.

Carlos has also recently defended Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
