Sepp Blatter apologises to Cristiano Ronaldo

FIFA president Sepp Blatter sends a written apology to Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo for his "amusing" remarks about the forward.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has apologised to Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo for his comments about the player.

World football governing body's chief appeared to mock the Portugal international while speaking at the Oxford Union on Friday.

When asked to compare Ronaldo with Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, the 77-year-old said: "One has more expenses for the hairdresser than the other."

Following Ronaldo's response to the remarks on his official Facebook page and Madrid president Florentino Perez's insistence that they deserve an apology, Blatter has now sent a written letter to the club apologising for his comments.

In the letter Blatter explained that his words were meant to be simply "amusing" and insisted that he has "huge respect" for the 28-year-old, while apologising for any offence that he may have caused.
