Real Madrid have confirmed that Gareth Bale has suffered a hip injury, but refused to rule the Welshman out of this week's Champions League clash with Liverpool.
The attacker reportedly picked up the injury on international duty and missed his side's 5-0 win over Levante at the weekend.
It is currently unclear how long the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder will be on the sidelines ahead of what is a big week for Los Blancos, with Barcelona to come in La Liga on Saturday.
"After Gareth Bale was tested by Real Madrid's Sanitas health services, he has been diagnosed with an injury in the right piriformis muscle," a club statement read.
The 25-year-old has scored five times in 12 games this season.
