Sergio Ramos claims that Real Madrid deserved to beat Barcelona.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has said that his side deserved their 2-1 win over Barcelona last night.

The Madrid outfit, who have led La Liga for most of the current campaign, now extend their lead at the top of the table to seven points after their rivals began gaining ground on them last month.

"We return home with three points taken against one of the best teams in the world," he told the club's official website.

"We believe we deserved to win. Our latest clashes showed the difference between both sides was minimal.

"Nothing strange happened tonight. There were no dubious efforts or challenges, and that's good for football. Madridistas had fun with their team tonight."

Madrid host Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga next weekend.
